       Jesus, Savior pilot me
       Over life's tempestuous sea...

Remember that hymn? The words are beautifully chosen aren't they.
Do you really want Him to pilot you today? That means trusting Him to make the choices that might not make any human sense. Everything will add up when we leave this world.
That is why it is so important to make sure that when we ask for guidance, we are also available for a work of submission to be done in the heart. Otherwise, when I say "please show me..." I might really mean, "Please show me how to get the result that I think I should have."
In obedience to God's Word, every believer should tell the Lord out loud each day that He can have his or her life - that His Life is longed for, and that whatever He wants will be willingly and eagerly borne.
This obedience will make room for the infilling of the Holy spirit, and also will take the nasty sting out of illness, death, and a myriad of heartbreaking circumstances. It doesn't remove the pain, but submission does make the pain sweet.
      Remember this?
It will be worth it all, when we see Jesus.
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ.
One glimpse of His dear face, all sorrows will erase.
We will have won the race, when we see Christ!
