How do you know if you are doing something in your own strength?
Boy oh boy, is it ever easy to rely on one's self when doing just about anything. This is the reason for burnout, anxiety, and stress.
The only healthy way to operate is to rely on the Lord, and not just for the things that seem to confound. While it is a simple statement, it is a deeper matter to learn to live this way.
In order to function in the strength of God, I must make sure that all sin is confessed, and then I must look for Him. I must operate according to the Word, and I must remember consciously that my home is in heaven. I must remember that my actions and thoughts are not allowed to be a result of circumstances or the weaknesses of others. I account to the Master and there are no excuses.
Thinking this way is a skill, but it is commanded in God's Word, and it takes a deliberate effort to think about these things all the time. It becomes a habit, but after all is said and done, isn't it precious that no one can do this without the indwelling Holy Spirit.
Only grace has brought me into this privilege, and I can be spared judging others because only grace allows me the privilege of sonship!
