It seems to me that many folks think that God will bop them on the head if they ask Him to stir them up.
I am so-o glad that God looks on the heart.
How critical it is to remember the verse that says "Draw nigh unto Him and He will draw nigh unto thee." He has already shown His love. He has issued forth a calling, and has left His Body on the earth, and yet, many are still waiting for God to do all the initiating and all the responding
It doesn't work that way. Although He is a gracious Lord, and one of mercy and loving kindness, the Bible teaches us that there must be specific responses to His call, and continued confession.
God cannot be known by correct doctrine or a perfect record. God is known when we are available to acknowledge that we are nothing without Him, not that we are nothing without church activity, a religious feeling, or tons of accurate knowledge.
The simplest child's prayer to see Jesus is the kind of prayer that causes ripples in heaven. The prayer that admits wrong doing and pleads restoration and infilling, gets the attention of the angels and shakes hell.
Honesty before God! How long has it been since you simply stood in a room and begged Him for forgiveness? He is not going to fill with the precious Holy Spirit a vessel already full of self!
