Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

The things we hold the most dear become entirely different to us when we are tested concerning them. This is certainly a prime reason that God in His sovereignty allows the enemy to do evil, to and against, believers.
It is when I am tempted that there is choice. It is when someone speaks ill of me that I must flee to the Word of God and acknowledge that I am not the Rock of Ages.
If there were no adversity, there would be not the golden glow of the soul set free. There would be no backdrop against which to display the great things God does in the human heart. As far as this world is concerned, if there were no pain, hardship, and unfairness, there could be no glory.
So why do we complain so much and spend most of our prayer time seeking relief?
Because we have yet to believe God means what He says.
He says He runs when He hears our cry, and withholds from us no good thing. He says that we can hide in the cleft of the Rock. He says He will give us all that we need, and just at the time we need
it.
The Christian's attitude about adversity must be predetermined. It doesn't make pain lessen, nor does it make unfairness turn into fairness. But it does give the Lord room to show Himself as in the story of Job. It does make the unseen more real than the seen
Most of all, we are told all the way through the scriptures that He has settled the issue. We can see it settled only by faith.
