        What are the things that impress you? Do you stifle a bow if someone's name is preceded by "Dr."? Is a holder of political office elevated in your sight? (maybe without your knowing it)
      The world has a completely different value system than the Lord. While there is nothing wrong with the things I have mentioned, there is something wrong with a believer holding high these accomplishments in the same way the world does.
     I can appreciate it when someone has a bunch of college degrees - they are a lot of work, and someone has had to pay for them. But I am probably more impressed by the person who can hold his breath for a full minute!
     The most impressive moment in history is when the Son of God gave His life as a ransom for many!  Choose carefully what impresses you. Many things can be appreciated, but whatever is impressive to you is the thing that you will go for or regret that you have never achieved.
     You will find yourself pushing and influencing your children to pursue the thing that impresses you.
     These are driving forces that folks seldom think about consciously. Choose carefully the things and achievements and qualities to which you will bow.
     The King of Glory gave His life for me when there was nothing worth saving - I'm impressed by that, and it makes me want desperately to be changed to be like Him.
