Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

I am concerned when someone tells me that they enjoy a prayer meeting and that they have never had more fun.
I am the first one to say prayer and the Word must be the focus of a life's activities, but neither should be recreational.
It is certainly possible to have a sense of having had an audience with the Lord, and many times there is a moving of the Spirit in prayer so that all can leave knowing that heaven has done business during the prayer time.
     But prayer is work.
It has its own sweet pleasure, but when I have been with folks who clearly enjoy their own wording and go on and on and on, I always know that those are not people of private prayer.
Praying together is a serious time of loosing and binding in the name of Jesus. A Church that prayers together regularly will have a real born-again Sunday school- not just well-taught children.
A Church that prays together will collectively see the lost and will do something about the ripe harvest. A Church that prays together will squelch gossip.
Praying together is a sacred and significant time when work is done that can be done no other way.
If the praying is not in the understanding, it is not appropriate and it is not corporate.
Brethren, let's roll up our sleeves, and get to work!
