Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

My need for Him is desperate.
The problem is, I am often not aware of my need. My tendency is to struggle to be self-sufficient, and if I yield to that struggle, I am blind to reality.
"In Him we live and move and have our being. . ." is a statement that flies right over the heads of many.
      Why is that?
Because while it is natural to be stimulated and easy to nod in agreement,
it is entirely another matter to operate in the conscious need of Him.
In order to even move in this direction, I must admit that I may not live the way others do, and while I see my neighbors and friends getting results for standard efforts it is possible that I may not get the same result in the same situation.
      That is not bad.
I may actually be reprimanded for the same thing that wins an award for another.
       That is not bad.
It just means that the Lord is answering prayer. Learning absolute dependence is one of those things I must pray for specifically, and if it is not requested in prayer, the Lord never forces it on anyone.
A bond servant is just that - one who submits himself for service in exchange for something.
I submit myself because I crave Him and all that He is. So I must learn and the process is one that goes against the natural grain.
     So be it!
