Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

There is a misteaching today that disturbs me greatly.
And that is that we are partners with God. That is absolutely untrue.
The commercial industry has declarations that can be posted on a car or a notebook that says for example, "God is my copilot".
As the wife and stepmother and sister and friend of a number of pilots who are also pastors and missionaries, I must say that not one of them would be caught dead with that particular sticker on anything for any reason at any time.
The Christian today has bought into the teaching that God is my buddy and my pal, and that I can tell my "chum" anything and He will understand.
That could not be farther than the truth.
He understands, all right!  But He is my sovereign Lord, and He is the King. He is the Ruler of all, and His majesty cannot be contained in the human vernacular.
Yes, the song is correct when it says "what a friend we have in Jesus", but in the sense that He went to the Cross for us, and is our Advocate today, and still awaits us at the crossroad of each hour.
But most believers take IRS far more seriously than our sovereign Lord. They do not repent with depth, and have not sensed a need to press for a vision of His loveliness and His sovereignty.
     He is not copilot.
He is the Potter, and I am the clay!
