The old nature
isn't going to go away, is it! Praise God for the Blood and its redeeming power, because now we have choice! Before we invited the Lord to be King of our lives, we had no choice. The old nature ruled, and we didn't think that was always so bad, because it was often full of human goodness. But when our eyes were opened and we saw that we could never have saved ourselves, we began to understand that God's goodness and human goodness are not the same. One is sighted and the other is blind. It is the old nature that worries. It is the old nature that manipulates. It is the old nature that needs reassurance all the time. It is the old nature that is selectively lazy. But because of the Blood, the Bible says that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me, and I have choice. I can choose obedience. The old nature is not in control any more, we must learn to walk in the Spirit. We learn it by submitting in prayer, and then simply being available. That availability defeats the old nature and clears the vision to see the Lord! |
