Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Many, many things should not be said.
Yet, they burn and itch, and press against the lips, and it feels like they cannot be contained.
     But they can.
They are words used by the powers of darkness to open doors, and don't kid yourself- demons are loitering all the time, just waiting to scoop up sinful words, casually uttered by careless Christians.
The most dangerous are gossip about other believers, but following close behind are :
*anything said by way of complaint
*the verbally expressed doubt that God might not keep His promise
      *directed sarcasm
      *absolutely anything genuinely off-color
*crudeness - bathroom humor, for example
      *ungodly expletives
*the "I should have" - "I could have" soliloquies
      *most advice
*dribble for the sake of filling silence

All of these things leak out of the mouths of God's people, and they are hardly aware. In an age when the world is turning to strange ways and strange anesthetics, we have the power to make way for the Lord. We must cry out in the "wilderness", and that is not all.
"In the tongue is the power of life and death". We are not allowed to wear cement muzzles in order to guarantee avoidance of what we shouldn't say.
But rather, we have an affirmative duty to open our mouths, and trust that He will fill them, as He said He would.
The Creator, whose name is the Word, would like to speak through your mouth!
