There can't
be a grudging consent to allow the Cross.
There will be no beautiful
and sweet infilling of the Holy Spirit until the believer
is eager and presses the Lord in prayer for the death
of the flesh.
The only way there is room to fill
is when something is emptied, and that means that when someone
starts displaying the "gifts" and claims to be "filled",
yet there has been no embracing of the Cross, something pretty
scary is going on!
And it is happening all over the
world!
We are not here to shoot off fireworks,
and neither is the Lord. He is interested in planting His own
life in us, and in order to have flourishing, glorious Life,
there must be much death of the flesh.
Don't worry, you can't do it to
yourself! He will answer prayer, and He will immediately
press you into the situations that will result in patience,
endurance, Christian character, and Christian love!
Don't forget, He is not only our
Master, but He is also our Shepherd and our Healer!
