Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

       You are tired.
Maybe it is your age, maybe it is the constant "more than can be done", and maybe it is just depression.
In any event, relief is not found in physical refreshment, but rather in the refreshment of His personality. When was the last time you listed to Him your favorite things about Him?
There is nothing as invigorating as love, and He has a well from which to drink that breaks through the tiredness like the sun burns away fog.
You do have a lot of plates in the air and it's true that many depend on you when you feel like a steam-rolled worm. But didn't He say, "Come to me. . .?" And didn't that include "heavy ladden. .?"
It isn't just for the unsaved. We who are Soldiers of the Cross can come to Him for relief, refreshment and restoration for the soul.
     Try telling Him.

Lord Jesus, I am tired. I have been hauling and cutting rugs all day and supervising children. You know those are my favorite things, yet the body won't move.
It is your body Lord, and even in the present condition, I yield it up to you. Anything you want. Only Lord of my life, and most Precious Lover of My Soul, please let me see you.
I need you and I need to find the relief and refreshment you promised. Nothing thrills me but you Lord, and I have learned you can be found in the most pedestrian task.
Lord, please keep me fresh and fixed on you for the sake of the children who watch me so carefully.
I commit all movement of this old and creaky body to you and beg to be taught to take pleasure in all things.
