Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

When a child is indulged, a power struggle ensues that is incredibly difficult - for both the parent and the child.
Often a new believer finds that he or she has been doing things backwards and by sight it seems hopeless. The child is obstinate and has marked out a territory that he will not give up.
But don't forget, although psychology tells us it's too late after the child is two, the Bible doesn't say that.
We have a Father, too. And He imparts wisdom to the helpless parent in the same manner He grants other kinds of helps - because of grace.
And, by the way, Grace never comes too late.
Prayer will soften the little clutches even though they seem to tighten by sight. The will must be broken in that area - that is, the child must understand that he cannot have his way when it is inappropriate, and the limit is unshakeable.
You are going through changes now - you know it, and some around you know it. Your child can change much more easily, and you must continue to hold the fort! Just do what you know is right and let the Lord do the deep cleansing that will come as a result of your prayer.
Your child needs sight and it can only come supernaturally. You must assist by resisting sentimentality and by refusing to move the godly limit.
Love gives its life for another, but love does not compromise.
