Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

The Lord does not try to please us.
Neither should we try to please our children. If we grade our success as parents according to  the child's reaction, we will have little ones and then big ones who are insecure and have terrible tempers.
He is pleased with us when we obey. He is pleased with us when we think of Him and follow. We who are weak and imperfect often have the tendency to look for the child's approval and cooperation to reassure us we are doing the right thing.
Our heavenly Father does not stop to wait for our reactions. He is not moved by our desires or unhealthy longings. Furthermore, He does all for our good, even when we would want Him to do anything other than the thing that makes the way for holiness.
Yes, He is perfect and we are not. But He has set things up so that the Holy Spirit empowers us to do supernaturally imitate Him.
I must remember that it is my calling to please the One who dies for me - not the other way around!
