How often do you think about the rapture?
That is , is it real to you that at any moment He could come for us and we would be caught up in the air to meet Him?
Human understanding only gets in the way here, because we can't begin to imagine the way it will really be. We only know the Bible says it will happen, and it could happen at any moment.
What does this mean for the Soldier of the Cross?
When the Lord has been allowed to come into the heart of a believer and the two have supped together, His return is not a remote possibility nor does it need to be understood.
Under those circumstances, the Soldier has already tasted the firmness of His promises and the delight of His first coming. And although we look forward to what prophecy tells us of His second coming (at the end of the tribulation), we who are alive in Christ now know that His catching us up to meet Him in the air is imminent and we think about it and look forward to it.
So, for the Soldier of the Cross, this means watching and waiting, constantly keeping short accounts and not allowing the remaining moments to be cheapened.
It means that mothers must be found training their children rather than owning them.
It means there must be no self-preservation.
It means time must be used under the assumption that there may only be one or two hours left.
It changes responses, eliminates retorts, lifts the countenance, and gives energy to sing more loudly. After all, if I am caught up while singing with gusto, I will not be greeting Him without zeal.
It means speaking to the one in front of you about Christ, even when you would give anything for a few minutes of silence.
     It lessens offenses of others.
     It changes everything.
     Everything!
