Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

The Bible says what it says - no more and no less!
It is certainly true that anointed preaching can bring out the hidden things and call to the front depth that has not been considered by the listener.
It is wrong, however, to speculate and add things that are not there. For example, today I heard a preacher talk about how John Mark just didn't have the guts for the ministry and bagged out of the missionary trip with Paul. Then he said, it was Barnabas who insisted that John Mark go along.
If you hadn't read the passage, you would never have known it was all fantasized. And terrible.

It robbed the beauty of the passage - we don't know any details, but we do know that there were problems of some kind that had to be dealt with. There isn't one word about John Mark deciding he just couldn't finish, not is there a word about Barnabas insisting Mark go a second time.
We must know the Word - not to be right when others are wrong, but to be able to stay the course and live by His sweet and perfect consistency.
