The Lord has not left us without hope!
In fact, the believer has something better than human hope, and that is assurance. That is actually what Paul talks about when he speaks of the great hope that we have. There is a supernatural affirmation of what God has said, and a supernatural sense of the momentum that bears the events of the future, because the indwelling Holy Spirit ministers bears witness to us.
That's the main reason prophecy is so different to the believer than it is to the unbeliever. It goes beyond the mental acceptance or rejection and carries witness into the spiritual sight.
Though we live in a fallen world and have a lurking enemy, still we are not allowed to despair. As a matter of fact, we are able to rejoice in things that cause others to grieve. Why?
     Because we have hope!
We are already seated with Him in the heavenlies.
He has already overcome the world.
     He is coming for us.
     We are adopted sons.
We have a foretaste of our inheritance brought by the Holy Spirit's seal of promise on the heart of the Christian.
We know God's Word is true.
He who designed the situation has already resolved it!
