Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

When most Christians read the "hills and valleys" verses, they seem to think that the two average out, and that 's why the Lord says He will make the way even and flat.
But that is not true at all!
The hills represent the experiences that are exhilarating and fulfill many levels of desire - assuming we are walking with the Lord, all good desires fulfilled. The issue here is that the Lord will prevent the Soldier of the Cross from actually feeling a human high and relishing the time as though it were his own victory.
The valleys are the times of despair and grief. No one is spared those times.but the Lover of Our Soul has made it so that He can take the sting away, and even the deepest sorrow can be sweet when we take hold of that precious truth that God is Sovereign and He has done the best thing.
It was a powerful day in my life when an older Soldier of the Cross wrote to me and said "Ardith, remember; for the believer, insult and accolade should be taken the same way."
So you see, even though we may proceed from hill to valley, we move from Glory to Glory, because He has gone before, and made the way straight!
