Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

When there is a serious problem in the home, the human perspective is usually that there is an unfair balance of power, or it is so perceived.
We could talk all night about the aspects of any situation and dynamics that feel like torture, but the real problem is anger.
These situations are never simple, and when children are involved the child is usually competing for a place he or she should not have. But the far more important issue is that we must remember we have an enemy who is roaming around seeking to devour.
He is prowling around like a lethal lion-vulture and when the odor of spiritual death is given off from a Christian, he tears in through the open door that anger provides.
The Lord has said He would set the prisoner free, and this covers every situation. The Soldier of the Cross must remember two things: he won't have wisdom for tomorrow unless he asks tomorrow, and he must take the verses literally that say that God will "solve and settle the affairs of His people".
This means that the evidence of a peaceful resolution may be on down the road, and right now, there must be sight and, even if the other party is agitated, the Soldier may not be!
He can be hurt, he can grieve, he can take his distress to the Lord, but he may not indulge in a state of agitation. That is sin, and what is more, he will be blinded to the "way of escape".
Even in the most difficult situations, we still have a Healer and an indwelling Counselor. If the conflict is caused by concentration camp-like circumstances, the Lord will reveal amazing hidden things to the Soldier who is willing to submit to Him rather than the situation.
