Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Even the most stalwart servant of the Lord often feels weak and unable to complete the task before him.
That  is not important. If it were, the whole Bible would be about teaching us to feel strong. But it doesn't - it teaches us to depend on our High Tower and the "Lifter of our heads" and we are told not how to feel, but how to behave.
In fact, all verses addressed to those who need encouragement in this area are instructed first simply to move their bodies and to govern the response of the limbs! (Hebrews, Isaiah).
I have never found a passage of any missionary biography (not to mention one verse of scripture) where the one used felt like a tower of power. In fact it is quite the opposite.
The issue here is that I may not dwell on the weaknesses I think I have, or the feelings of inadequacy. If I saw a building on fire and there were people crying out for rescue, I hardly think it would be the time to evaluate my vast knowledge or lack of knowledge of fire fighting, my inclination to help, or if I would be poorly thought of by those observing.
Something would have to be done, and the thing before to be done is accomplished by the energy and attention drawn from the glory of His Presence.
Nothing else will equip the Soldier of the Cross. What's more, if he feels adequate and experienced, he'd better reconsider. Yet, the Church today is desperate to make Christians feel in control in marriage, in finance, in evangelism, and in devotional life.
I have one thing to say: Look away, unto the Author and Finisher of your faith!
