Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

       A little discouraged today?
Go and get a hymn book - stand in front of a mirror and read a good hymn out loud!
The Bible doesn't say how David "encouraged himself in the Lord", but this is certainly one way.
Many heroes of the faith have memorized hymns, and it is important to review the words written by those who have blazed the trail of faith. We have not been asked to do the possible - only the impossible!
So, stop trying to switch things around. You are finding something wrong with the impossible, and it is your thinking that needs refreshing.
Natural thoughts are not soldier thoughts, and the Soldier of the Cross must exercise discipline to line his thought up with the Lord's. I am not talking about choruses repeated over and over to create an atmosphere - I am talking about hymns written by those who have "sailed bloody seas" and fought victorious battles of faith.
Things are not different now. We have the same Lord, the same calling, and the same Holy Spirit.
And the same One who called the marching Soldiers, made the way, and defeated the enemy is calling you and He will give you strength and courage for the battle.
