What do we mean by "Power in the Blood?"
Just like the protection the Israelites had during the Passover, when a person yields to Christ, it means He is submitting to the reality that in order to avoid death (the final death) he must allow the Shed Blood of Jesus to be applied to the entrance of his being.
For the Israelites, the lamb's blood was a protection against the power of death - a power they could not resist. So through obedience, there was a protection from the angel of death.
This is still true today for the believer, only it is presented in the Church as a doctrinal issue rather than a way to approach life.
The Lamb of God was slain and His Blood shed for us - when we say "yes" to the invitation, that Blood is applied to our lives, and we have eternal life - not eternal existence, but eternal life.
What's more, we have it now. The same Power that provided the rescue of eternal Life offers us daily protection from the experience of spiritual death.
What are the components of spiritual death?
     fear
     anger
     insecurity
     agitation
     jealousy
     pride
     dishonesty
     . . .
These are pools of quicksand that cannot all be avoided by those who have no Blood applied to the doorposts of their hearts.
But you do! So there is no need to step into any of them. They are in your life because of habit - not because they can't be resisted.
Prayer must bring revelation concerning the Blood of Jesus. Few believers have even a teeny little thought about the protection the Blood affords them.
That is why the old song says:
"Would you be free from the burden of sin:
      There's power in the Blood. . ."
