Do you
find it difficult to pray and memorize? Always start with the thing that prepares a capacity for the next thing. If you are either starting from scratch or you want to break out of a period of hardness, get a biography of someone who has tried Him and found Him faithful. There are so many - one of the very best is "The Little Woman". Another is "A Chance to Die". And there is a marvelous series of missionary stories called the "Jaffrey " series. Read about David Livingston and Hudson Taylor and Amy Carmichael and Elisabeth Elliot. Then there's Praying Hyde, Fanny Crosby, and hundreds of others. You are not alone - many have gone before, and when you read the stories of God's faithfulness, you will want to talk to Him. You will also want to hear from Him, and you will be eager to read His Word. "He knoweth that we are dust. . ." and He has left us with a great deposit of His Life in the accounts of the saints! |
