Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

The second verse  to the song The Chimes of Time begins:
"There is no pow'r can Conquer you While God is on Your Side. . ."
And yet, so many believers spend time and energy trying to conquer the power that cannot conquer them anyway!
Yes, we must pray and often fast, to weaken the enemy and drive him out, but absolutely nothing can defeat God's plan. A lack of prayer for others and a lack of regular pursuit of God will result in Christians that are squishy and afraid.
When it comes to prayer, that kind of Christian sees God as good, satan as evil, and the only deciding factort might possibly be a series of panic-riddled, beggings almost submitted to anyone listening, much like worry beads are rubbed in the middle east. Of course, they call it prayer.
There is a different kind of prayer, and it is offered by one who has come by desire and experience, to know and rest on the sovereignty of God. That Soldier is also concerned about the circumstances, and may round up a zillion people to pray about the situation. But a Soldier of the Cross isn't trying to influence God - he knows he must present the situation because there are many things that do not happen unless we ask. That is how the Lord has set it up.
The Soldier of the Cross can pray more effectively, because his God is not weak and only as great as the enemy. His God spoke the universe into being, and is not limited by the enemy. His God will hear, and his God will do beyond what the Soldier can think of to ask.
It is a mamouthly important thing to remember, you know; that God is on your side!
