Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Do you want the God of Elijah and Paul to be your God?
Be careful not to give a quick answer unless you have counted the cost.
There are many who want a God of correctness and  rescue, but they really want correctness according to sight, and rescue in a way that fits into the human comfort zone. We have no idea what could happen if we let the Lord have full play.
Are you blown away when you hear stories of faith like those of George Mueller and Hudson Taylor? Perhaps there is more room for the real work of the Lord when the Soldier of the Cross refrains from doing all the obvious things to guarantee the provision.
How can there be any faith exercised concerning finances if the Soldier of the Cross begins to kick up dust when the purse is empty?
What will it take to teach us these things? Do we love dependence, or do we love the provision more than the Provider?

Oh Lord, I do so long to learn to lean on you. I want to see you work freely and thoroughly. I know I want to jump in and insure against any waiting when things look too late.
But more than that, I desperately long to see you and to recognize you and to know you, so please do whatever you need to do in order to make me like you.
If you had been like me, there would never have been a resurrection because there would never have been a Cross.
Please change me, my Lord and my God.
