Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

A Soldier of the Cross must love obedience.
The Lord has revealed His love by standing in our place, taking our punishment, and then calling us and wooing us. Moreover, He is preparing a place for us in heaven.
He most definitely can be trusted!
Why then is it so rare to find a believer who does not have to see the result ahead of time or who will move with the Word of God even when circumstances contradict?
Because we have not learned to cherish obedience for its own sake.
I get up and go to each meeting because the Lord has said I must, and there must be a relishing of doing the thing that has been commanded. I don't have to know why or what will happen if I don't, nor do I have to feel like going.
The Bible says I must attend to the needs of others before I attend to my own needs.
That means I must, and that is all there is to it.
If I do not love obedience, I will first think of reasons why the thing required is not good. But if I love obedience, I will take as done the thing asked, and then I will trust the Asker to lead the way.
That is the response to Love that He wants. Without that quality of response, there is no conversion and certainly no freedom of the Spirit in a believer's life.
There is entirely too much playing around in the Church today.
The Lord could come any minute and we will be caught up in the air to meet Him. I don't want to be found calculating gravity - I want to be found taking care of His business - not my own!
