When Tobiah
and Sanbalat harassed Nehemiah and those who worked with him,
they only wanted to make the Israelites miserable and stop the
work. We are to assume their behavior was in response to the enemy's hatred for the Temple, and even today there are those who for no human reason, simply love to see God's people suffer. It will not change until the end of time. Even in the millennium when He physically reigns on the earth, there will probably be those who will wish they could impose misery and suffering on His followers. Why are you surprised? He said the world hated Him and we could expect no less. Now, we must look away from those things that would distract and gaze at Him Who called us. He will take care of the disdain and lack of understanding - we have work to do! |
