Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

He had to learn obedience, and I must also.
It is not natural to the old nature to obey God, and I must learn to obey. I can't learn just by hearing about it, watching marvelous examples, or having the best intentions.
I must learn by being confronted with the decision and making the choice the Spirit witnesses is the eternal one.
There is no other way. That's why the Lord often allows amazingly difficult things - that's where the rubber meets the road and the Soldier is tempted to compromise. The farther we go with Him, the greater the cost.
But the Soldier of the Cross longs for His raw presence more than anything else and learns to consider all else less than worthy by making one decision at a time.
When I am concerned about becoming the "right kind" of Christian or person, I become occupied with myself. But when I become determined to follow the One who is "in the Light," I become fanatically attracted to the Light, and that desire rises to the surface when temptation looms.
As I have said before, there is simply not anything else worth anything at all, compared to His loveliness, His presence, His Word, His Life or His people.
With all my might, I will submit to Divine training!
