Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

God's best never parallels the world's best!
His best is often (and usually) without recognition and more often than not, somehow disfigured as far as the world is concerned.
For example, no human without Christ would follow the example of the apostle Paul, because he ended up beaten, deserted, and in prison. Not only that, but there was no earthly victorious rescue, and according to history, he was beheaded in Rome.
All Soldiers of the Cross must remember to follow the One who gave His Life as a Ransom for Many and did not choose a more acceptable way. Most would want to follow a Lord who, at the last minute, would leap off the Cross and blaze away in a chariot pulled by thousands of horses.
     But not our Jesus.
     Why? Because of submission.
And that is where it must begin and end with us. Submission.
It must be beautiful to us to live as men and women dead to the world and learning to release the hold its passions have had on us for so long.

Lord Jesus, please do whatever is needed in me to make room for your own Life. I want to have every day count for eternal value and the world is so seductive. Oh Lord, train me to live before others but as unto you.
Please make more beautiful to me each day the fact that it is the nature of God to love and to minister grace. With all my heart, I want to serve the One who did not consider the Cross a disgrace, but went, in spite of unfairness and false judgment.
Please change me, my Lord and my God.
