Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

The test of a Servant's correctability is his refusal to be offended.
And what a rare thing that is! Do you realize we are not allowed to be offended? There is not one verse of scripture that indicates otherwise and furthermore, we are told that we must take an opposite posture.
It is always amazing to me that in spite of verses and well-known hymns, Christians will rant and rave about the offense and justify their feelings of being offended on the basis of the severity of the offense.
When a believer is offended, there is an open door for the enemy to sweep in and have the mind and the tongue. A Soldier of the Cross cannot afford to be blinded in that way. The situation does not call for denial of the truth, nor is it a sin to be hurt - pain is pain. But being offended is an emotion and it puts the Soldier in a position of justifying his own sin and he will harbor resentment that holds the other party hostage to his own relief.
He was not offended by the Cross.
     It wasn't fair.
     And it wasn't fun.
But it was the plan of God!
