Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Consistency comes from the habit of watching the One we follow.
Although there is a danger in oversimplifying all human problems and needs, we can limit the solutions to those allowed by the Word of God. And I have always found that depression is rooted in anger and self-involvement.
It is a mire into which anyone can step at any moment, because we have an enemy who loves to get our attention away from the goal and onto the fruitless. He'll whisper negativity that sounds like our own voices and often we need no more - we're down for the count.
Believers who have not learned how to resist this onslaught can lead lives of constant low grade discomfort, except for times of intense distraction from the negativity that clings to them like tar.
But there is always hope and it comes directly from Him. Yes, He can speak through a book or a tape, but He usually speaks directly through one who has been with Him and is sensitive to His heart.
If you are depressed, go to Him once more and tell Him. Let Him know you are aware He is listening and commit your way to Him once again. He knows you can't fight this battle alone and He has not forgotten or been idle. But you must respond to the initiating Love pouring from the Word of God and obey by humbling yourself before Him and let Him teach you to put others before yourself.
He has never turned down anyone who has volunteered to be a Soldier of the Cross!
