Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

It doesn't matter that you can't forget.
The Bible says that God casts our sin into as the song says "the Sea of God's Forgetfulness".
But there isn't one verse anywhere that says you have to forget. You do have to forgive and that happens in prayer. Then, your behavior may not be marked by resentment or bitterness or getting even.
You see, when there is obedience, the whole thing can loose the bitter edge and take on a sweet odor of restoration - whatever that means in the context of God's economy. It doesn't have to mean that things are better than ever between you and the offender, but it does mean that the Lord has room to do whatever He wants without your holding back.
If we forgot every offense, there would never be an opportunity to learn the beautiful way the Lord opens our eyes and shows us what really happened, or how He used the situation to do His deep, deep work in us.

Lord, I meant it when I said I want to be a Servant - a Soldier of the Cross. I desperately want to know when I stand before you that I did not hold back.
Please teach me the quality of submission that yields to your instruction and leading even in the hardest things.
Lord Jesus, please teach me to forgive, even as you called to the Father to forgive those who crucified you.
I want to be like you, Lord, so please do whatever must be done to produce your life in me.
