The Gospel will
never loose its simplicity. Those outside the heat of divine fire love to speculate, elaborate, and seize complications. They build arguments and press others to learn the ropes. But with our God, there are no ropes! The fact is, sin is nasty and it separates us from God. We have all sinned. There is nothing that can atone for sin except the Blood of Jesus, and no amount of kindness, tolerance, or penance can have any effect at all on sin. It is true and simple. And so is everything having to do with God. As infinite as it all is, it is simple. Maybe hidden right now, but when we see it, it will be simple. That is why a child or someone who has a limited intellect can serve the Lord with single mindedness more easily than can others - because it is a matter of trust and obey; confess and repent; go ye into all the world. . .; He said it, that makes it true, and that's enough for me! |
