Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

I am not supposed to know the way through the wilderness.
I am supposed to follow. Oh, how the flesh wants to know without following!
The flesh wants to do anything it possibly can other than lean on the Lord for direction. The flesh would rather read lots of books, talk to dozens of friends, collect maps - anything, absolutely anything except follow one step at a time.
That is because the old nature desperately wants to be in control. It wants to have at least an inkling of what is coming beyond the next step.
So, we must be trained. The Lord does not train us by instruction alone, but by putting us in situations where we learn how reliable He is.
Yes, we must learn to lean on Him because He told us to. But, as the verse says, "He knoweth that we are dust. . . " and He tenderly brings us along.
The next step is to learn to lean when others might be grabbing maps and thinking us silly for waiting and watching. But that is what He wants - Soldiers who will wait and watch.
He has never disappointed anyone who truly looked for and waited for Him.
He not only knows the way through, but it is His design to lead us with His eyes!
     Like the song says:

Strength for today is mine all the way,
And all I need for tomorrow.
My Lord knows the way through the wilderness:
All I have to do is follow!
