Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

He is able to do far beyond anything that we can ask.
Yet, He still wants us to ask.
He who made us to dwell in His love has designed our lives so that He can not be discerned without prayer.
Even those who come to Him only for rescue, will be rescued.
His attention is constant and His response is immediate.
When Christians say there is no time for a prayer life, it is an untruth. Those believers simply do not really understand who God is, for if they did, they would certainly choose prayer over other things.
We need prayer that expresses longing for more of Him.
     We need intercessory prayer.
     We need penitent prayer.
     We need worshipful prayer.
And we need dependent prayer - prayer that expresses our need for Him and prayer that articulates specific needs.
There is a difference between always going to the Lord for a handout, and going to Him because we realize independence is a sin. It is also ineffective.
The animals of the forest and the creatures of the sea and air do not have choice. They do as they are bidden.
But we have choice. We can flap around and build houses on the sand or we can come in contrite obedience to the One who made us in the first place, and we can know the Sabbath rest described by the writer to the Hebrews.

Lord, I know I need you in all things. Forgive me for streaks of forgetful independence. Please do whatever is needed in me to bring about your Likeness, so that I may learn to petition heaven as the Holy Spirit leads.
