Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Often the Lord speaks to us through people we would not choose as message bearers.
When  I am being disciplined by the Lord, I would much rather hear the correction from someone I consider worthy to correct another. Of course, I have never met such a person, so I can feel justified in refusing to consider that Almighty God is steering me when he uses someone who "just doesn't understand!"
He can be heard by the eager ear. And, like the dipping of Naaman, our correction and healing come from submission to God's way, rather than the sophistication of human standards.
Some of the Soldiers who have ministered to me the most and been useful in my journey have been uneducated and toothless. Some have not spoken English and have been translated as we sat on the floor of a mud hut.
I have often told the story of Shirley, a severely retarded woman I knew in high school - she also had a clef palate. Shirley knew the Lord intimately and we all knew it. When she sang or prayed, there was Glory all around.
Soldier, seek desperately to be a man or woman who loves correction and will refuse all human advice, but will never refuse a word from the Lord.
Learn to recognize the authority of God.
