Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

We sing the little song "My Lord Knows the Way Through the Wilderness. . ." because there is indeed a wilderness.
Don't be confused between the wilderness of the Israelites where they wandered so long because of grumbling, and the experience the Soldier of the Cross has of venturing into unchartered territory and not being able to make his way through without help.
We were not designed to make out own way out of the maze. We needed a Savior when we were lost, and we need Him today. We don't need Him only so He can change the imperfect circumstances, we need Him to give direction for each step.
     Each step.
No soldier in an earthly army gets one order and launches off his own campaign of battle or fort building. Most believers, however, want to live that way.
The Soldier of the Cross understands he is a real Soldier in a real Army, and he is not going to display even the tiniest spirit of independence.
There will be no awards in heaven for the most independent Soldier - only the most obedient!
And then there will be "Well-done, thou good and faithful servant!"
