Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Only an empty-headed fool feels equipped for service.
What prepares a Soldier of the Cross to serve the Lord is obedience.
Obedience teaches us where the Power is, and how to rely on the One we cannot see with our physical eyes. Heaven dresses the Soldier of the Cross in impenetrable armor when he begins to realize he cannot collect an arsenal of weapons or tools to do the work ahead.
He has a Sword and the indwelling Holy Spirit. When he arrives and the sand has begun to flow through the hourglass of the event happening, the One to whom time is no limit will speak and act through the Soldier.
But, if that Soldier foolishly thinks ahead of time he can go into the situation with all that is needed and that he only needs heaven to magnify his tremendous human efforts, he will crash and burn!
Most of "Christian service" is like the jet pilot who is out of fuel. He must either eject of the whole thing will crash and bring him down with it. We need Soldiers in homes, schools, churches, jails, hospitals, orphanages, and on the streets - Soldiers who will operate , cloaked in heaven's battle wear, not their own.
Oh Soldier! Prepare to die - in the most beautiful use of the word!
