Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

The verses in the Bible that concern the mouth are strong.
If in the tongue lies the power of life and death, a significant responsibility must be born by the believer.
Most of the time we bite back sharp words or accusations only because it strengthens our position to do so. But when enough has built up behind the dam, the break will come unless there is a recognition of what is happening and a predetermined commitment to be led of the Spirit.
And when it does, a torrent or words will come out that have been lingering in the thoughts for some time.
If it were possible to listen to the thoughts of most Christians, there would be stunning things said in the mind over, and over, and over. The first time shot in by a fiery dart, but after that taken in and adopted by the target.
Soldier, do not defile yourself by spraying into the air the cleverly worded phrases placed there by the enemy. We who love and serve Him must refrain, not because it protects us and gives us more control in the situation, but because He has commanded it in His Word.
Words are critical beyond any concept our minds can hold.
     His Name is The Word.
He is revealed in and through His Word.
The universe and all that is in it was created and is maintained by "His mighty word of power. . ."
No one can make you say anything. You alone are the master of your mouth.
Let it resound and be a vessel for One who is The Word of Life.
