Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

There are no nuggets of knowledge to make the journey easier.
There is no human companion who can lighten the load to the extent of taking the
Cross for us, or point out the way to save us from the cost of faith.
We have only to obey in the next thing.
That is what it takes to see Jesus and to have a song in the heart, even in the night.
It is also the very thing the flesh hates so much, and so many Christians refuse to go
that way. Even the hunt for a substitute to faith has its own momentum and can be
a temporary anesthesia.
Of course, there is no substitute. Those who refuse to do it His way are like those in
the wilderness who refused to look up at the serpent for healing. And although the
story is a picture of the lost refusing to accept salvation, it is also a picture of those
believers who stubbornly refuse to obey. They reap daily death instead of abundant
Life.
Soldier, it is essential to pray about things impending and to be wise. But You can't
do tomorrow's duties today. You can only do them tomorrow.
We were not constructed to get everything under control and then sit under a tree,
sipping drinks for the rest of our lives. We were made to follow Jesus.
     A step at a time.
Stop asking about what will be happening next week or tomorrow.
We were made to walk by faith. All other thought and behavior short-circuits the
panel and proper function - heaven's function, ceases.
     The next thing.
Is your hear aching? Attend to the next thing.
Are you exhausted? Attend to only the next thing.
     We were designed that way.
Soldier, while the next thing is happening and the seconds and minutes are flying by,
do not be living in what is not before you yet. You will have misspent the time and the
opportunity to listen and love fully will be gone.
He gave us time in a sequence and it must be spent with full attention on His
 Agenda, not ours!
