Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Christian Soldier, do not be so eager to give advice.
Advice is an opinion about what another should do, but it is based on the limited
learning and experience of the advisor.
Advice is usually given out of the need of the speaker and has little to do with the
need of the listener.
Counsel, on the other hand, is offered by request, and in the Church, it is a spiritual
gift. Those who really have the gift of counseling will wait for the Lord to show them
a hidden area or to illuminate one aspect of wisdom.
Often the counselor who is in touch with the Lord will not offer an answer, because
the only thing he can give without supernatural sight is advice!
Most advice is opinion and it ministers death. Holy Spirit counsel is entirely
another matter, and both speaker and listener see the same thing at the same time.
Advice is all there is when a solution is sought.
Counsel is available when the Lord is sought.
