Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Christian Soldier, remember, the angels attend to us.
     It is a Biblical Truth.
When you have that near miss, or when it seems to be a coincidence, remember
the sovereignty of God.
Often we shy away from beautiful truths because we are turned off by the
hyperspiritual believer who wants to interpret every little thing according to his
understanding. But soldier, do not miss what is really happening.
Do not veer from your thought course because someone else is off course.
     We are cared for.
Tonight I played a concert that featured exceptionally athletic performance on the
musical instrument I play - the bassoon. There were many in attendance and it was
a landmark event for the symphony. I was featured uniquely, and all colleagues and
audience members could see and hear as I plowed through well-known parts of
fireworks-kind of bassooning.
It was a long concert. Two and a half hours. It also featured one of today's most
famous pianists, Andre Watts.
The concert was terrific and all went well. After the very last note, a piece fell off of
my bassoon onto the floor. As the orchestra began to play the encore, I handed the
music to the player next to me. There were no exposed parts, but I could not play.
The piece was still not attached and although no one could tell, the instrument was
crippled.
The piece could have fallen off at any time. The music was such that had it
happened one second earlier, it would have been a public disgrace.
     But it did not happen.
I understand that was the Lord.
Because of my experience with Him, I understand He was in control.
Soldier, this is the point: if it had been earlier and if the key had fallen to the floor
in a critical part of the music, and if I had sounded like a cow, it would still have been
the Lord.
The issue is, He lets us see Him in ways that demonstrate His attention and
awesome desire to rescue, and then when the thing that we want does not happen,
we must acknowledge He is in control and is Sovereign.
Soldier, this is basic to your life.
