Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

A Christian can not be guided by his conscience.
He must be guided by the Word of God.
If we are submitted to the Lord and we are standing on the Word, the conscience
is transformed as the months and years roll by. As we become more sensitive to the
Holy Spirit, He interprets more and more clearly the things that the flesh resists, and
the believer's conscience is sensitized to holy living.
It is entirely possible to be doing things a mature Christian would never consider,
when one is newly saved. While it is true that the Lord will transform him, that believer
can not depend on his human instincts and will most definitely change dramatically
with regard to his thoughts and behavior.
We must not rush in and correct all the behavior of the babe in Christ. That stunts
growth and makes a conscience driven Christian instead of a Soldier of the Cross.
But we must press forward in prayer and cover the holy living of both new and
mature believers.
We need to remain pliable. Sensitive. Eager to be changed.
Then, the human conscience can be replaced by simply seeing Him and obeying
Him.
