While we
must be diligent ministers, attending to many critical and mundane
matters, we must remember that the Bible teaches that
we are sojourners and pilgrims in this foreign land, earth.
Maybe I should say this foreign land, time. Remember that when time is ended for those without Christ, we will have already been in eternity. What I mean is that eternity begins for the Christian as soon as Christ is allowed or invited to enter the heart. Our roots must not be here and now, but then and there. I absolutely do not approve of disassociating from family or neglecting children or spouse, but the Bible makes it clear that human sentiment for family can replace Godly love and distort perspective. There are many times when either parents or grown sons and daughters must turn from the thing that the other wants, in order to serve the Lord. Follow the Pillar and the Cloud, and let the Lord take care of the rest. Let Him fight the battle, and you will be amazed. So often we linger and avoid the battlefield because we want the others to be pleased with us, or we can't bear to hurt them. The Lord really will take care of it. Remember, it is not over until it is over. Everything will be exposed. Do you think the Lord should have waited until Mary approved of the Cross? Why should we wait until anyone else approves of the Cross? |
