There must be a "rightly
dividing of the Word of Truth" as in Paul's instruction
to Timothy. All too often, we who teach try to inject into the scriptures things that we wish were there, or we try to explain away the plain and simple truths. The fact is, the Bible is given to us as a standard, as an impeccable and alive Word, and as a revelation of a Person. It must be studied. It must be prayed over. No person on this earth can study the contents intellectually for a few years and understand what it says. God's Word speaks to us, and if we submit to the work of the Holy Spirit, the Bible will convict us, and cause us to fall in love with the Author. Christians have all kinds of excuses: I have little children. I don't understand it. I can't concentrate. Everyone has a different interpretation. I work. I'm too tired. I haven't been to seminary. One of the most amazing excuses I have ever heard was from a lady who was supposed to be a spiritual giant. She said to me" I am all set in the morning because at breakfast, my husband reads one of those little verse cards to me." The B-I-B-L-E, Yes, that's the Book for me... I stand alone on the Word of God, The B-I-B-L-E! |
