Wherever God is, there is
fire. If there is no fire in the heart, God is not being allowed
to be fully active in that life. If there is never any fire of
heaven in the mouth, God has not been given that tongue. The Bible gives us many pictures of fire as a visible aspect of the presence of God. The old testament sacrifice was lit with fire from heaven. The fire was an abomination to God if it came from a human source, and was called "false fire". In the new testament, we are told in Romans that it is simply our "reasonable service" to present ourselves as a living sacrifice. When the Lord is allowed to ignite a living sacrifice, others see Him. People are healed. Nations are changed. The hosts of heaven rush in. Are you ignitable? |
