Rich, ripe, undiluted
pain! How could the apostle Paul possibly have meant it
when he said:
"So,
for the sake of Christ, I am well pleased and take pleasure in
infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, perplexities and
distresses....."
IICor. 12:10
He could say this because
he had already decided that he would learn to relish the battle.
It was a decision. He committed himself to a direction, and he
simply decided to agree with God instead of crabbing about the
uncomfortable and the unknown.
I want to serve the Master
in that way. It is my choice. I can answer the call to battle,
or I can flap and squawk and get lots of attention over things
that don't count.
What ever the cost, I want my mouth
to line up with the Word of God. The mature believer doesn't
call the things that befall him good things or bad things. He
simply labels them all equally - happenings allowed by his God
for his good.
