There are no words to express how
grateful I am that my coming to Christ did not depend on the
brilliant example of other Christians.
I grew up in a missionary home,
and was around some fabulous saints. But I had never experienced
the new birth.
The influence of other believers
was not apparent to me until I had already met the Lord. Of course
I was influenced. They made me think all the time. But I thought
I was turned off with them. Their statements and behavior were
confrontive, and that felt unpleasant to me. I knew their lives
were not perfect, and the whole thing made me squirm. And yet
at the same time, there was that place that responded with the
hope that there was something, maybe Someone more.
If you are reading this little
blurb, and you are in the place I am describing, I will tell
you a secret:
If you will take the risk and ask
God (do it out loud!) if He is real, He will answer you. You
need to tell Him that you are available if He answers you.
What do you have to loose?
1) guilt
2) anxiety
3) anger
4) fear
5) compulsion
6) insecurity
7) loss of time
8) grudge-holding
9) depression
