- Time
is something that cannot be spent twice. It is the only element
in our lives that confronts mortality and decisions about eternity.
For most of us, if there were no
passing of time, there would be no context for obedience. It
is easy to be shocked at the disobedience of Adam and Eve, but
they did not have the precious time limit that we have.
These are things that one
can see only with eyes of the Holy Spirit. That is why those
who have not experienced the new birth can nod and go "uhmmm"
when they are simply trying to assimilate a concept.
- Life
is short. That is not a concept. Life cannot be relived. That
is not a concept. At the end, there is a judgment. That is not
a concept.
This is the reason it is so important
to live according to God's economy and not the world's. Unity
demonstrates the reality of God, as does love. The other thing
that unbelievers see and never forget is when a Christian's feet
are planted in eternity and his life reflects it.
If you have insurance, don't
depend on it. If you have a paycheck, give it away from time
to time and trust the Lord for your next meal. The paycheck came
from Him in the first place - not from your boss.
- Living
in eternity instead of time is what makes obvious to the observer
that the believer has his eyes locked on what matters, not
the loosing or gaining of the things that are already without
eternal value.
