- There is
a skill that the Bible teaches the Christian - that of rolling
the burden onto the Lord.
- It is so
easy to offer glib counsel and tell a sufferer "Just give
it to the Lord." Most of the time the suggestion is made,
it is passed on because it sounded good the first time.
The believer who has learned to
really do this precious thing is a rare find! It takes a response
to the Holy Spirit that refuses to look back or think "what
if. . ."
- In my experience,
I must actually have a little ceremony where I tell the Lord
I am giving the thing up to Him, and I tell Him why I am relying
on His Word, and that I believed Him when He said I had to give
up the burden.
For some, the burden is so familiar
that it has become part of that person's identity. For others,
it is an excuse to retreat.
But for all of us, the Bible says
the same thing - we are not equipped to bear worry, anger, resentment,
fear, or any other form of insecurity.
Security gave His life for us.
Security is building us a mansion. And if the One who gave His
own Blood for our salvation says we need to learn to be anxious
for nothing, it's high time we learned it!
